Assignment #11 Final Essay Blog

Oppression means Cruel, or unjust treatment that is prolonged. The difference between violent and non-violent resistance is when someone react with shooting/fighting in which is violent and nonviolent is when someone reacts in a peaceful way and without hurting anyone. Agency means the ability to determine the outcome of one’s own life. People should use nonviolent resistance to gain agency because violent is not the only way to solve problems.

First, People should use non-violent resistance to gain agency because not everything you do you have to use violence and hurt people and alway feel your not save to be anywhere, you just have to use your words to make it because words are more power than anything and word hurt more. The document i analyzed was about how people was not getting treated right and how people thing and don’t really care about the black people and how they will do anything to kill them or put them in jail. Yes it is because the person who created was giving us a lot of things and what happened and how did it happen and when and where. It’s a article called “We’re Sick of Racism, Literally” created by Douglas Jacobs on november 11, 2017. One quote from this document is about half of black respondents and a third of Hispanic respondents reported that they’d experienced unfair treatment because of their race in the past month. About half of muslims reported discrimination in the part year”. My quote shows that people should use both because in this article you just need to think and what’s good and what do you think it’s the best thing to use violent or non-violent but in my opinion  i think people should use non-violent because if they try to do anything that will get people in drager and get people killed, or just have a lot of people to be on your side and have a sit down protest and see what will happen and if it dont help than when you need to think about something.

Next, people should use non-violent resistance to gain agency because not everything you have to use violent and hurt people but some people they have to but they will do it with peaceful way and if they want to do a protest, do a nice one or a sit down protest. This document is about Malala, who got shot on her forehead and her friend got shot too but how she didn’t stop doing what she doing and she is trying to make changings and speak for the people rights  and to let people know violence is not the right answer and to always love each other. its a speech giving by 16 year old Malala Yousafzai to the United nations General Assembly On July 12, 2013. I think this information is trustworthy because all the information they had was trust and what happened to her and what she doing and how she made a changes and when did she got shot. One quote from the document is “this is what my soul is telling me: be peaceful and love everyone”. My quote shows that people should non violent because you don’t have to use violent in your problems and there will always something else to do and to always love people, dont hate or hurt and look at the positive things also, learn what people teach you about the positive things and make a difference in the world even tho you can’t do anything but start with a small thing and make it to the top.

Finally, people should use non-violent resistance to gain agency because the SeeClickFix help you fix the problem and try to help everyone but it will take time for them to fix your issue. This document is about the seeclickFix is about fixing things and what you need to be save and have a clean streets and sidewalks and other things and also they keep you on update to what’s happening and if they are going to fix the issue and if they cant fix it. It’s a  Posters and data created by Fremont High School student work on “The SeeClickFix Project.”  The image was created by Jason Muniz, an Ethnic Studies teacher on April 27, 2018. The information is trustworthy because Mr. Muniz did the posters and it was in Fremont HS. One quote from the document is how many people issue are open, close, or anknow. My quote shows that they are trying to fix all the issues people had report and how they are trying to help people by not getting disease or have life issues problems and people should use this website a lot because it’s free and you can just reposted the problem and they will fix it.

  • What are the different statuses on the posters, and what do each of them mean?

There are 3 different posters, open mean that they read it and see it, closed mean they will not fix it and acknowledge mean that they are planning to fix it.

  • Describe what you did (or what you were supposed to do) to find out if the issue you submitted to SeeClickFix was fixed.

You have to c every 2 weeks and see if it changed.

  • What changes do you notice from the April 13th posters to the April 27th posters?

What i notice is that first it was on open and then i waited for like 2 or 3 weeks and click on it and then i seen that it was on acknowledge.

  • Do you think there are any types of issues SeeClickFix is better at getting fixed than others?  Why do you think that?

SeeClickFix have a lot of issues that need to be fix and sometimes they don’t really open your issue and it will  take they so long to open it and some people have a really bad issues that need to be fix.

  • If an issue someone reported did not get fixed, what is something they might try next?

To have a lot of people report the same issue and see if they will fix it and if they dont we will have a non-violent protest.

  • Do you think people who report issues to SeeClickFix are able to gain agency?  Explain your answer.

No, they don’t gain agency because SeeClickFix only receive the reported issues but they don’t do anything about it. From my experience with them, they didn’t fix the issue I reported.

  • What did you do in class to join SEECLICKFIX on their website?  Describe the steps you took.

  • What did you do in class to report an issue to SEECLICKFIX? DON’T FORGET TO SHARE YOUR ISSUE ID NUMBER!  Describe the steps you took.

when I reported my issue, they gave me an ID number and if its open or close. Then I wrote them down on sticky note.

  • Do you predict that the City of Oakland will fix the problem you reported?  Explain why, or why not.

I think yes because I feel like they want Oakland to be better and they don’t want people to get hurt. They will fix it for free because they don’t want no one to be in danger. They want every one to be safe. They care about our generation and they want it to be better.

Assignment #9 – Oppression Essay

Oppressed people means when you are treating other with cruel, or unjust treatment that is prolonged. Systems of oppressed is when people are getting treating very unjust and cruel in a organized way. Levels of oppression is when oppression happens because of rules, law, or policies, the way people behave towards another, and when people choose to believe negative narrative about themselves. Some ways oppressed people experience the different systems of oppression and levels of oppression is the way how they look and how people change their self.

First of all, Some ways oppressed people experience the different systems of oppression and levels of oppression is how people look at there self and what people think about them because they will listen to people and follow their rules and then start thinking the same way how people think and at the end they will  change their self for people. In document #9, its talking about how people are treat because their sex, race, color, and a lot of other things because of who you are and what you want to do and how you are. This is an article by the United States Department of Labor, which is a government agency that keeps track of all the people working in that country. A quote that i will be using is” white men get $845 and the women are earnings $669 and the black or african-American men are earning $621 and the women earning $582” there is a big difference between women and men and there skin color, sex, and race. It show that people only look at you for who you are, what’s your color and your ethnicity, but i don’t think they have to go over because we are all the same and we all are humans and colors or your race should be that big deal.

Second of all, Some ways oppressed people experience the different systems of oppression and levels of oppression is when people are trying to do things to stop something from happening and when people have things that make you can’t not do anything because they will get hurt. In documents #8, its talk about how Terrorists will stop girls from learning and they will do anything to stop them. The Terrorists people will stop the women from having a education and to have human rights or anything and it was hard for them because they want to have education and have a good life and do something with their life’s but it will as hard for them and every year there will be 185 documented attacks on schools and hospitals in Afghanistan. This is an article by Acid attacks, poison What Afghan girls risk by going to school” posted on the website CNN.com. It was written by Allie Torgan on March 17, 2016. A quote from the document is “Every day, you hear that somebody’s thrown acid at a girl’s face … or they poison their water.” It’s so hard for a person to try to get a education and be someone in life and do something they love to do. Even tho people are trying to stop you from doing something that can help you be successful and be happy with who you are and what you have, a lot of people don’t want the best for girls and women because they are different from men and they think it’s not good for a woman to learn and work but some people want the best for them and they will help them but terrorists people don’t want that because they want the girls to be like them be mean, be disrespect, and do things that will stop girls from learning and being there self.

Assignment #8

First of all, People with power able to marginalize and exploit people with different identities because they take everything from you and your family, tell you what to do and always have to do something for them and also treat you wrong because of who you are and they think you are less important. In document 3 is telling me that In the old days people will give other people smallpox and epidemics is a big disease because of a smallpox and that 30,000 to 50,000 have smallpox People Because the virus went everywhere the time soldiers got there people were spread an older the place  it will kill them because the spanish/mexicans unwittingly bringing the smallpox and it scattered all over the place and everybody will get it and kill over it.

Second of all, people with power able to marginalize and exploit people with different identities because it talk about anti-gay/homesexuality and paster james david was the man who make headline over his controversial anti-gay messages on his marqueen and how it’s against god wishes and the bible. This is an article found on a news website called Amsterdamnew.com, it’s in article is titled “Homophobic church sogn causes stir in harlem” and it was written by Cyril Josh Barker on May 3rd, 2014. A quote that support my answer is “ don’t hold back on Manning message that homosexualit is against Gods wishes and the bible and Obama has released the homo demons on the black  man”.  This shows that some people are against god wishes and some people are will god and say that people can’t be gay and they have to like other people that are the opposite sex but in 2010 U.S. Census, harlem is becoming one of the city’s top neighborhood for gay couples and families to call home.

Finally, people with power able to marginalize and exploit people with different identities because they are chosen who there god be and they treat that person so nice and give them everything they need and at the end of the year they kill the god because that person is their enemy. This is a note told to friar Bernardino de sahagun in 1529. A quote that support my answer  is “ During that time he is given all the finest luxuries from the noble’s storehouse, including food, clothes, teacher, woman, and instruction.” this shows that they give they everything and at the end they kill that person and how a aztec warrior gained power in his village, the aztec warrior was turned into the god tezcatlipoca he ruled all the village and people.

assignment #5 – The Shadowbox Project

Identity is the qualities of a person that define who they are. -Dominant narrative is a story that people in a position of privilege tell about someone who is not. -Counter narrative is a story or perspective that people who are marginalized tell about marginalized . -it’s important because a lot of say thing that are not true and some time you have to say the are not trun and tell them who you really are.

i choose the picture in the man with the gun because i lot of people say that we are terrorist and not all muslims people are arabic and not all people are terrorist and are all arabic people are muslim and anyone can join us and be like us but anyway a lot of people be asking us are we terrorist and if we have gun and things like that, and that thing get me mad because they all think that we are mad and we all kill people also i choosed the picture with woman because people say that we will put things in own clothes and go places and hurt people.

First of all counter narrative is who are marginalized tell about. i chosen the picture with the woman helping the man by getting him food because we all like to help people and when are nice people. the picture with all the girls and i choose that picture because people think that we are not educational and we not do work

First of all identity is the qualities of a person that defines who they are. This has to do with me because i have my identities. One picture that i m using is the woman that is helping the man because i love to helping and give homeless people or people in need. Another picture that i use is the girls that sre going to graduating because people think we don’t have education in our life but i all love to have a good life.
